Articles we did not look at:

1. librarian.net " Blog Archive " what are you for?

2. Booksthatmakeyoudumb

3. Pegasus Librarian: Is "Traditional Reference" Dead?

Anna Creech - Iris asks: What is traditional reference, anyway? What about it is different from what we're doing now (and being asked to do by our users)?

Article we did discuss:

1. A second look at the JISC/British Library study

British Study Says "Google Generation" a Myth; Libraries Must Step Up (Library Journal)

Anna Creech - Yet another authority stating that although Millennials are digital natives, they still need to be taught skills and techniques for retrieving relevant information from digital resources.

2. Controversial Author Wins Edwards Award (School Library Journal)

Orson Scott Card is a Big Fat Homophobe (Free Range Librarian)

3. Loaning Kindle to Patrons a No-No for Libraries? (Tinfoil + Raccoon) - Katie Dunneback

Is the Kindle a fiscally responsible purchase for libraries? Rochelle says no, and I have to agree with her argument.

4. Alumnus Sues Cornell Over Article Newly Surfaced in Digital Archive (Library Journal) - Michael Sauers

5. The Three Potentially Offensive Pigs (OMINVORACIOUS) - Michael Sauers

6. Mellon Grant to Aid in Archiving Web Sites Useful to Scholars (Rochester Regional Library Council)

Uh, isn't this the same thing Zotero (with the Internet Archive) is trying to do? - Karin Dalziel

7. Updated site leaves some in a 'cloud' (Columbus Dispatch)

"I don't think it's as intuitive as they think it is," said Donna Siple of the Clintonville neighborhood.

8.Sam's club? Loose Cannon Librarian

Anna Creech - I'm not sure that changing the name will make Library 2.0 critics any less critical. I'm beginning to wonder if they're just annoyed that anyone is daring to move the profession into the modern age rather than letting them hide in their dusty offices.
